Wheel-a-Thon FAQ

1) Are electric scooters okay? Nope, no electric anything, just old-school wheels.

2) Can they bring roller-blades, a skateboard, or a hoverboard?  Sorry, no hoverboards and no skateboards. Rollerblades can only be used  if they have some kind of brake on them and it’s highly recommended that students wear protective wrist guards in addition to helmets.

3) Can scooters be part of the swap? Sure.  The PTA doesn’t personally have bikes to swap, we are just providing a venue for families to swap if they would like.  If a swap is not made, the wheels would need to be taken back to their original homes.

4) What if a student doesn’t have a helmet, will there be extras to borrow? Yes, we have a large box with varying sizes.  But, if you don’t have a helmet the best thing to do would be to come the day before the wheel-a-thon between 2:30-4:30 and get a helmet.

5) Kids said that the labels used in the past won’t come off their bikes, and they really don’t want another put on to make it worse. Do they have to have a label? Can the concerned students use something else- like painter’s tape?  They are totally right!  We have ugly helmets at our house too because the stickers won’t come off.  That’s why we are using removable labels this year!

6) If a student doesn’t want to participate, are they allowed to walk instead?  They can definitely walk instead of wheeling!

Spring Book Fair (a BOGO opportunity) – May 13-17

The Spring Book Fair is coming! Mark your calendars for the week of May 13th-17th and please take a look at the sign up and volunteer where you are able. We appreciate all of your help, as it takes many volunteers to run the Book Fair all week. The Book Fair is a fun and exciting time for students, teachers, and parents to be able to shop for books right here in the Lowrie library. The spring sale will be a BOGO sale (buy one, get one free!) Remember to be a registered volunteer with the district to be able to volunteer at the fair.  Please use this link to sign up to help:

A Note from Librarian, Holly Chapman

BOOK FAIR VOLUNTEERS: We need parent volunteers to run the registers and to help students shop. The time slots are for 1-2 hours, depending on the time of day. If you have time, please sign up at this LINK
BOOK FAIR DONATIONS: We have already exhausted our budget of book fair gift certificates for the year, however there will still be some of our students that won’t have the means to buy any books at this book fair. For this reason, I am respectfully requesting for any donations from friends and family where their money will go twice as far at our BOGO. I have set up an ewallet specifically for digital donations (called Lowrie Love) that can be provided before and during the fair. We just need to share the link. Friends and family can also donate via cash or check (made out to Lowrie) once the fair is open.
